For children
Punjabi school
Reading, writing and speaking Punjabi, and the stories and values of Sikhi. September to July, £25 per child per term.
Our aim is to give children a deep appreciation of the Punjabi language, Sikh culture and heritage. Classes cover reading, writing and conversation in Punjabi, alongside Sikh history, traditions and the teachings of the Gurus, taught through stories, games, cultural events and performances rather than drills.
Times and fees
- Term
- The school runs from September to July each year.
- Start
- Classes start at 5.45pm. Please bring your child promptly; arriving late disrupts the child and the class.
- Fee
- £25 per child, per term.
- Bring
- Each week, a pencil case and a notebook (the same notebook each week).
Registration and payment are handled on Enthuse, the secure platform the Gurdwara uses for payments.
How parents can help
- Ask your child what they did in class and what homework they have.
- Encourage them to finish homework over the weekend.
- Speak Punjabi with your child at home. It makes the biggest difference to fluency.
