Anand Karaj and civil marriages
Weddings
The Sikh wedding ceremony in the Darbar Hall, and civil marriages at the Gurdwara.
The Anand Karaj is the Sikh wedding ceremony. The couple sit before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and walk around it four times as the four Laavan are read and sung. It takes place in the Darbar Hall, in the presence of the Sangat, and is followed by Langar. We also host civil marriages at the Gurdwara.

Civil marriages
If you would like your civil marriage to take place at the Gurdwara as well, both partners must:
- Both partners must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid proof of identity and address for both partners.
- Where it applies, proof of lawful status to marry in the UK.
- A notice of marriage completed at your local register office.
The office will tell you what else is needed once your date is confirmed.
On the day
We can help with:
- Catering through approved external providers
- Live Kirtan
- Photography, decoration and event coordination recommendations
The usual Gurdwara etiquette applies to everyone attending: heads covered, shoes off, no alcohol or tobacco anywhere on the premises, and modest dress. Please let your guests know in advance.
